Abstract
The text is a review of the publication "Ve stínu studené války: Střední východ v letech Eisenhowerovy doktríny 1956-1960 [In the Shadow of the Cold War: The Middle East during the Eisenhower Doctrine Years, 1956-1960]" written by Professor Jan Wanner. The author seeks to place the publication under review into the overall context of Wanner's research, present its structure and its main contributions to expanding our knowledge about the subject.
He also points out some of the questions on which Wanner could have elaborated more in his book.
