The Feast of Day of Freedom in Czech missal

Publication at Hussite Theological Faculty |
2013

Abstract

The study presents an analysis of a liturgical proprium for the Feast of Day of Freedom (28th October) that was included in Czech missal (1919-1920). First, official statements of the Czechoslovak Church about the establishment of independent Czechoslovak state are discussed and evaluated.

Next, a literary-theological analysis of liturgical proprium of the Feast of Day of Freedom and its transformation from 1920 to present liturgical practice is offered. In conclusion, a theological conception of the Feast of Day of Freedom is compared with a theology of liturgical proprium prepared for a celebration of the Feast of Independence Day in the Episcopal Church and the Roman Catholic Church in the USA.
