Influence of bone loss on load carrying ability of dental implants

Abstract

Longevity if dental implants is directly dependent on the strenght of adjacent bone under functional loading. Inadequate implant dimensions are the major reason of bone overload and its eventual loss.

Gradual bone loss activated by bacterial infection is another crucial factor for the implant load -carrying ability decrease. Its study is essential to predict the implant longevity and success.

The aim if this study was to determinate ultimate magnitudes of occlusal force for a range of commercially available implants and to assess its reduction within the process of bone loss.
