Abstract

Poor economic conditions in the 30's of the 20th century in Czechoslovak Republic resulted in increased state intervention in industry. State intervention with the onset of the economic crisis took place in glass production, too.

Cartels had mostly a regulatory function in the glass industry. In 1933 was approved the Cartel Act, which restricted the contractual freedom of economic subjects.

In glassmaking, where worked many companies, formed cartels very difficult. Therefore, the Czechoslovak government went to another way of concentration of productionin in 1935, to forced syndication.

Part of the production capacity of glass factories was not used due to economic crisis. In the year 1934, numerus clausus was declared in the glass industry.

Numerus clausus prevented from the formation and expansion of glass factories.
