Osteroporosis in men

Publication at First Faculty of Medicine |
2013

Abstract

The incidence of osteoporosis in men is lower than in women; its most frequent manifestations are vertebral fractures or hip fractures. Osteoporosis in men is perpetually under-diagnosed and under-treated.

The basic treatment consists of calcium and vitamin D3, in cases of very low bone density or compressive fractures it is necessary to administer pharmacologic treatment.
