The legislation on tourism in Czech Republic is undergoing a dynamic development. A new Civil Code No. 89/2012 Coll. was approved, which also repeals the Commercial Code.
The new legislation will be effective from the 1st January 2014. As a result, regulation of tourism will be changed: for example, a new system defines key terms in this area, such as a contract for a trip replacing a travel contract, a complex problem of the loss of enjoyment of holiday.
The key law (Act No. 159/1999 Coll., on certain conditions of business and activities in the field of tourism) is to be significantly amended. Essential is European Directive of year 1990 No. 90/314/EEC.
Directive should also be changed. The Czech legislation on tourism is built upon the rules contained in the Directive.
In addition, there is a new law being prepared (Act on promoting of tourism). The pattern of Austrian and Slovak law is followed.
