Applied Environmental Economics and Econometrics: Czech Perspective

Abstract

The book addresses empirical and econometric issues in rapidly developing scientific discipline of environmental econometrics from the Czech perspective. Although environmental economics, as a sublfield of economic theory concerned specifically with environmental issues, has evolved through 50 years of worldwide development, deeper research concern aboutthe environment among Czech economists has not emerged until the Velvet Revolution in 1989.

Still, two decades of czech environmental economics have been producing many interesting results in emprical research. The chapters are centered around three main themes: environmental valuation, corporate environmental economics and environmental inequality.

The book follows the structure of these themes, each part offering multiply views on the specific topis. Our effort is to publish a book which brings together a wide range of research in Czech applied environmental economics and econometrics in a comprehesive form.

The primary aim of the book is motivate Czech young researchers for future research and encourage their interest in th field of environmental economics based on examples of good practice presented here.
