The aim of the work was to determine the prevalence, sex distribution, and other characteristics mesiodentu in the group of patients treated at the Dental Clinic for children and adults, 2nd Faculty of Medicine and University Hospital. The work was based on a retrospective collection of data for 30,507 patients who came for treatment between January 2007 and January 2012.
Mesiodentu presence was detected in 0.65% of patients with almost 2.5 times more frequently in boys. The mean age at diagnosis was 9.7 years.
In almost 28% of the patients had been present for more than one mesiodens. More than 98% mesiodentů was placed in the upper jaw.
Almost 92% mesiodentů been impacted and more than 51% mesiodentů held in the eruption of the permanent incisor. Our work complements epidemiological data presence and characteristics mesiodentu on a large sample of patients of Central European population.
