Abstract
The book for patients focuses on insulin pump therapy , with an emphasis on practical aspects. Individual problems respectively . readers their solutions are demonstrated on the example of a fictional family Novákových, where the father and daughter are being treated for diabetes type 1 insulin pump.
For each chapter is followed by a summary of key findings arising from the chapter. The book is designed so that the reader was entertaining and didactic form really familiar with all the problems and benefits that daily use of insulin pump delivers.
The introduction of completeness are discussed such as diabetes , its forms , how it arises and how it manifests itself. The second part is devoted to the introduction of diabetes treatment options and indications for initiation of insulin pump therapy.
Then, the attention has been focused entirely on really practical aspects , such as the use of infusion sets, injection site care , pump settings , the selection of individual forms of bolus and basal doses with regard to eg different types of food or exercise. Further, it addresses situations such as infection or other illness , traveling with an insulin pump , etc.
In the book are not neglected any ages , are discussed specifics of this therapy with regard to children, adults and senior age. The book is accompanied by illustrative photographs and illustrations.
