Cardioprotective effects of chronic hypoxia and ischaemic preconditioning are not additive

Abstract

Adaptation to chronic hypoxia and ischaemic preconditioning do not provide additive protection of the heart against subsequent acute ischaemic injury. Both chronic hypoxia and preconditioning may share the same signalling pathway.
