Selective bacterial decontamination (SBD) in intensive care - yes or no?

Abstract

In spite of the fact that new trials demonstrated the efficacy of SBD in the prevention of ventilator associated pneumonia and also its positive effect on mortality, the routine use of SBD in patients in intensive care can not be recommended.
