Abstract

The events and potential separatism reverberates also in some more remote and basically calm region of Central Asia. Karakalpakstan is relatively remote region in Western Uzbekistan, which is considered to be under the firm control of Uzbek president's proxy person.

However, recently several leaflets claiming about potential independence of the region were distributed there. The text focuses on the roots of separatism in Karakalpakstan as well as the overall perspective of the autonomous region.
