Design and Function of Metal Complexes as Contrast Agents in MRI

Abstract

The paper is a critical review on new trends in the development of contrast agents for magnetic resonance imaging. Basic properties of metal complexes are discussed as well as their thermodynamic and kinetic stabilities.

Further, CEST agents, responsive probes, application of manganese complexes and non-classical agents are reviewed.
