Areal Features and their limits. (TO BE or NOT TO BE? An exotic question!)

Abstract

This chapter discribes the state of research progress in the field of the african linguistics. The author summarizes the results of the former research on areal and genetic factors in classifying languages of West Africa and points out new directions for further research.
