Abstract

At present, there is no unity among specialists dealing with issues of space polarization and the development of peripheral areas in selecting parameters that would be the most suitable indicators for the delimitation of peripheries. According to the authors, the presence or absence of elementary school in certain area is one of the possible indicators of its centrality or peripheriality.

Therefore, the relationship between the development of the spatial diferentiation of the elementary schools network and the changes in position of given areas on the core-periphery continuum in Czechia is explored. The findings are then compared with the results of the others authors.
