Respiratory quotient in obesity: its association with an ability to retain weight loss and with parental obesity

Abstract

Authors refer about an association of respiratory quotient (RQ) during treatment by very low calorie diet in obese patients with ability to retain weight loss. Obese patients who succeeded to retain the weight loss were characterized by a significantly lower (RQ).

A high RQ revealed in obese subjects reporting parental obesity.
