Abstract

The article analyses a cross-sectional area Environmental Education in General Educational Program for Elementary Education. The analysis was done with using of four complementary approaches.

In the first part the area was compared with an international standard, the Environmental Education Curriculum Inventory. In the second part the article evaluates inner integrity of the area.

The third part assesses the language of the area and its connections to anthropocentric, respectively non-anthropocentric values. The last part evaluates the area from the point of view of theories of responsible environmental education.

The analysis shows that the area for environmental education is not compatible with international standards, its inner integrity is only partial, it is value-neutral and does not correspondent with the theories of responsible environmental education
