On the prevalence of rarity in nature : well hidden information about landscape structure

Abstract

Species-abundance distribution consisting in the prevalence of rare species is explained by the fact that all sites are similar to each other but different at the same time (i.e. there is both spatial autocorrelation and species spatial turnover).
