Biodiversity scales from plots to biomes with a universal species-area curve

Abstract

We have developed an universal model of the species-area relationship based on the maximum entropy principle; the model enables to predict changes in species richness with area on the basis of the knowledge of the ratio between total number of individuals and number of species in a given area
