Abstract

Estimates of the future development of population and its age structures are frequently produced and increasingly required bits of information nowadays. However, the results of individual forecasts or more precisely their variants are quite different and an ordinary can rarely perceive these differences.

Nevertheless, using a less probable variant of the future population development should contain considerable impacts, e.g. on financial charge of public systems. In spite of this, it is obvious, across all the forecast variants, that demographic ageing of the Czech population is an unavoidable phenomenon.

In the following text, main results of the study forecasts of the Czech Republic will be outlined. The objects of this evaluation are three Czech and two foreign forecasts estimating the future population development of the Czech Republic.
