Abstract

The article deals with improving mortality conditions in all EU countries, including the Czech Republic, which has - in combination with low birth rates - resulted in an increasing proportion of people in advanced age. These changes in the age structure of population are the main characteristics of demographic aging, which makes it necessary to discuss the possible impacts of these demographic changes on the overall economic and social development in the European Union.
