PEMZOK - Spatially explicit model of forest land cover change in abandoned landscape

Publication

Abstract

The application allows the verification of model results by comparing their predictions with the situation observed in binary classified aerial photographs. Input parameters are classified layers of trees and shrubs at the beginning and at the end of the reference period, as well as maps of individual variables used in the model calculated by the statistical program.

Environment variables (change in land cover, distance to the nearest tree or shrub and tree density) can be calculated directly from classified images. Another function is preparation and export into a CSV file for use in the statistical program.

Any variable or model result and comparison with reality can be visualized using basic graphical interface and it is possible to overlap layers. Anything can be exported as a bitmap (BMP and TIFF) with an optional world file for use in GIS, ASCII format with optional header and a CSV table format.
