Pseudomarvania, gen. nov. (Chlorophyta, Trebouxiophyceae), a new genus for “budding” subaerial green algae Marvania aerophytica Neustupa et Šejnohová and Stichococcus ampulliformis Handa

Abstract

The paper reports the phylogenetic position of the green alga Marvania aerophytica Neustupa et Šejnohová based on the 18S rRNA gene sequence. The results implicate establishment of a new genus, Pseudomarvania gen. nov., and new combinations, Pseudomarvania aerophytica comb. nov. and Pseudomarvania ampulliformis comb. nov.
