Abstract
The report reveals a view of the actual institutional and organisational base of our scientific branch, theoretic-methodological concepts, the most important themes, directions of research, journals, publications and leading persons of historical geography in Czechia. It refers in particular to the last 20 years but a continual development as well as a deep-rooted before 1989 tradition are also mentioned.
In conclusion, the author tries to point out the specifics, strengths and weakness of Czech research. Apart from that, he indicates the active and successful cooperation on the international forum as well as the valuable contribution of the Czech historical geography and the concrete results of its research in practice.
The important part of the article constitutes a relatively large list of the key Czech historical geographical literature and main projects.
