Positions of the city of České Budějovice in regional and in settlement hierarchy in the Czech Republic

Abstract

Comparing České Budějovice with the other regional centres one can indicate two specific features. First, the centre is characterised by considerable development level of its central functions: shares in quaternary activities and job opportunities.

Second, České Budějovice has been lagging in comparison with other centres in formation of a metropolitan hinterland-low settlement pattern intensity and no larger centres in its immediate hinterland.
