Rigid duplex alpha-cyclodextrin reversibly connected with disulfide bonds. Synthesis and inclusion complexes

Abstract

Synthetic methods allowing the preparation of a new macrocyclic receptor, termed alfa-cyclodextrin duplex, in which the cyclodextrin cavities are connected with disulfide bonds, were developed. The ability of the duplex to bind model organic molecules (aliphatic alcohols) in aqueous solutions was determined, revealing stability constants of the inclusion complexes up to K = 9109 M-1.
