Repatriation of key zooplankton species Cyclops abyssorum into a mountain lake recovering from acidification

Publication

Abstract

In presented paper we demonstrate successful repatriation of Cyclops abyssorum (Crustacea, Copepoda) into its original habitat – Lake Plešné in Šumava Mts. of glacial origin. After inoculation in 2004 we detected two-year period of exponential population growth, after which the population reached a plateau.

We also show impact of this predator species on the whole planktonic community.
