Eight small, forested glacial lakes in Bohemian Forest (Šumava) have been affected by atmospheric acidification, which culminated in the mid-1980s. Since 1990, both sulphur and nitrogen deposition dropped significantly.
A long-term monitoring of the lakes made it possible to observe changes in zooplankton from its highest suppression to the present. Here we demonstrate return of some species to theri original habitat and successful experimental repatriation of one zooplankton species (Cyclops abyssorum).
