The family and household structure in the context of changes in fertility and nuptiality level in the Czech and Slovak Republic in the 1990s and the first years of the 21st century

Abstract

Article deals with the number and structure of household have most reflected decrease in the marriage and fertility rates and the shift of the intensity of these two processes to a later age meant a decrease in the number and proportion of two-parent family households with children at a younger age. Consequently the average size of households between years 2002 and 2008 declined from 2,52 to 2,38 persons.

The differences in timing of formation of specific types of households are in connection with gender differences and with the attained education.
