Theoretical and Methodological Background to the Historical Anthropology

Abstract

Historical anthropology represents a set of methods and approaches to a history, that come out of social and cultural anthropology. Several basic characteristics are attributed to the historical anthropology.

These characteristics constitute a framework of theoretical and methodological background to the historical anthropology. Mainly, there is a concept of culture, which is taken from symbolic anthropology, and a mikrohistorical approach to a history.

This contribution is focused on these basic characteristics of historical anthropology.
