What Science is about : De possest—concerning spiritual reality of God

Abstract

The nature of objective reality Science refers to was shown to consist of hierarchically constructed formal relations. Such reality belongs to those special ideas provided with what Descartes called realitas objectiva indicating that their being real consists in being thought.

A knowledge based solely on them his Méthode imposed to scientific endeavour, must, perforce, be true and absolutely certain. Thus, the nature of objective reality and that of scientific knowledge are basically identical, implying, that anything conceivable – realized in objective terms – is eo ipso real and true and hence may be realized materially.

Yet earlier, the same way of being real, for which all possibilities are actual, has been introduced by Nicolas Cues under the name of POSSEST – as shown by the thorough interpretative analysis if his text. Yet, Cusanus attributed such a prodigious, omnipotent, inconceivable sort of being solely to the supreme Being of God.

And that’s, precisely, what Science is about!
