This paper reviews articles on the subject of seasonal nuptiality that have been published in the journal Demography during its fifty-year history. Articles are compared not only in terms of their main results but also from a methodological point of view.
The applied methods are confronted with the results obtained using the time-series decomposition method, which is applied to the monthly numbers of weddings at the national level from 1950 to 2006 and at the regional level for the last decade.
