Anthropogenic modification of the river habitat as a consequence of coal mining and flood protection measures

Abstract

This contribution dealed with the human influence onto the river network and its negative consequences in strongly transformed areas. This research, done in the Bílina water basin – one of the most polluted and modified rivers in the Central Europe, evaluates the physical habitat quality using the ecomorphological monitoring method EcoRivHab (Matoušková, 2003, 2007) and LAWA Overview Survey method (Kern at al., 2002).
