The International Waterbirds Census in the Czech Republic in January 2008 and 2009

Abstract

In total, 197,823 individuals of 54 waterbird species were recorded on 590 sites by the International Waterbird Census (IWC) in the Czech Republic in January 2008 and the corresponding totals for January 2009 were 213,547 individuals of 55 waterbird species on 619 count sites. Malard Anas platyrhynchos was recorded as the most frequent and the most abundant waterbird species in both years.
