Abstract
Hindu Goddesses may be a source of empowerment for female believers, although in trandional Hinduism there is gender hierarchy. Hindu rituals are mostly genderly conditioned as the example of the Sarasvati puja shows.
The text also provides an insight into contemporary religiosity from the gender perspective.
