Abstract
Centella asiatica is a perennial herb distributed in tropic and subtropic areas of the world. It is used in traditional medicine for treating many illnesses.
The main active compounds are pentacyclic triterpenic saponins which possess multiple pharmacological effects. Numerous studies confirmed its antiinflammatory, antioxidative, anti-tumor, antimicrobial, venotonic, wound-healing, neuroprotective, antidepressant and anxiolytic effects.
