Plasma resistin, leptin and adiponectin levels in non-diabetic and diabetic obese subjects

Abstract

Although obesity, particularly visceral obesity, is associated with insulin resistance and increased risk of Type 2 diabetes [1], the mechanism whereby adipose tissue modulates insulin sensitivity is unclear. It has recently been appreciated that adipose tissue modulates energy metabolism via secretion of circulating adipokines such as resistin, adiponectin and leptin.
