Abstract
The study deals with the idea of God as thought of in, respectively, Alfred N. Whitehead´s Process and Reality (1929) and Totalité et infini (1961) by Emmanuel Lévinas.
It reflects on the difference between the two accounts which, precisely in their opposition, might offer a witness about the God of philosophers in the European tradition.
