Jesus, Son of Joseph and Son of David, in the Gospels

Publication at Protestant Theological Faculty |
2009

Abstract

The article presents various approaches of canonical Gospels to the characterization of Jesus as ?Son of David? and ?Son of Joseph? in the context of Jewish messianic expectations of the Hellenistic and Roman periods, especially in respect of the notion of two messiahs known from rabbinic literature (b. Sukka 52).
