Abstract
In this chapter the author offers an interdisciplinary commentary on the story of the Old Testament prophet Jonah, focusing on literary composition of the book and the ?psychological development? of its main character. The key story of the book of Jonah is presented as a paradigm story about the relation between religious conversion and relationships to one?s neighbours.
The essential educational message of the book is dealt with in the last part of the article.
