Christ?s Atoning Sacrifice according to Rom 3,25: Paul?s Soteriological Argumentation and its Background in the Old Testament

Abstract
Traditionally, the clue for interpreting the soteriological formula that Paul quotes from an older tradition in Rom 3:25 is sought in the link to the Old Testament ritual of the Day of Atonement, as it is described in Lev 16. The article surveys the problems of interpretation of this important Pauline passage and proposes an alternative solution on the background of the saying on blood in Lev 17:11.
