Abstract
Type 1 diabetes is an organ specific autoimmune disease of multifactorial etiology. Environmental factors significantly contribute to induction of the autoimmune process against pancreatic b - cells and modify its progession.
The article reviews contemporary knowledge of the principal non-genetic factors in the etiology and pathogenesis of Type 1 diabetes.
