Abstract

Extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO - extracorporeal membrane oxygenation) is a life-saving method used in the treatment of severe respiratory and circulatory failure unmanageable by properly managed ventilation treatment (UPV - artificial lung ventilation, HFOV - high-frequency oscillatory ventilation, iNO - inhalation of nitric oxide) and pharmacological circulatory support .
