Abstract

The paper summarizes the basic demands on departments which perform transplantations of haematopoietic progenitor cells. It defines the minimal annual activity of the centre needed to maintain the quality of the programme, demands on staff incl. their certified training, demands on clinical and diagnostic background of the transplantation unit and demands on documentation and follow up of transplantation data.

All recommendations mentioned are based on the demands of the European group for blood and bone marrow transplantations (EBMT), the Americasn Haematological Society and American Society for Clinical Oncology. The objective of the work is to assist Czech transplantation centres to reach the European standard incl. i European accreditation.

The transplantation section will use as a basis the criteria given in this paper, when asked for its opinion on the professional standard of a newly established transplantation centre.
