High school achievement: predictor of successful finishing medical studies

Publication |
2001

Abstract

The grade-point-average in physics, mathematics and Czech language during foul-year-study at secondary school and separately, the grades received at the end of each year were used as the predictors of successful finishing medical studies within six-year-interval. The binary logistic regression analysis conducted on the data from 125 students brought support for the assumption of predictive validity of the grade-point-average in physics and the grade in mathematics received at the end of the third year of secondary school studies.

In both cases the predictors identified better students who failed to complete their medical studies within six-year-interval
