Stigmatization in "Psychogenic Disorders"

Abstract

Stigmatization is based upon the assumption that psychiatric patients differ from normal population. Often no difference is made between psychoses, neurotic disorders or personality disorders.

The aim of the destigmatization is to change the stereotype of patients with psychiatric disorders so that he is not socially punished. It is imperative to change the attitude of the employers, family, friends and health professionals.

It is important to achieve that symptoms of psychiatric disorders are not seen as something 'strange' and 'different', and help people to understanding suffering patients.
