Publication |
2001

Abstract

Insomnia is a prevalent sleep disorder that can occur in conjuction with other health problems or exist in isolation. Primary Psychophysiological insomnia is a disorder of somatised tension and learned sleep-preventing associations that results in a complaint of insomnia and associated decreased functioning during wakefulness.

CBT attempts to alter patterns of negative thoughts and dysfunctional attitudes in order to foster more healthy and adaptive thoughts, emotions and actions.
