Psychotherapy and CBT Chances of Borderline Personality Disorder

Abstract

Borderline personalities tend to be emotionally labile and impulsive individuals who exhibit a pattern of intense and chaotic relationships. Effective treatment of these patients requires the establishment of a collaborative therapeutic relationship fostered by focal treatment interventions to modify the maladaptive pattern and then to maintain the more adaptive pattern.

Schemas of abandonment/loss, unlovability/defectiveness, and dependence/incompetence are often seen in borderline patients.
