Troubles and pitfalls in operative treatment of ankle fractures

Publication at Third Faculty of Medicine |
2001

Abstract

The most frequent mistakes in the treatment of fracture dislocations of the ankle is the confusion of Weber B type with C type, neglect of the revision of the articular cavity of the ankle and surrounding structures, inadequate reduction of fragments including the posteriorolateral fragment of distal tibia, internal fixation of medial malleolus only by one screw, application of tension wire cerclage on fibula in fractures of Weber B type, unnecessary application of the suprasyndesmal screw in type B fractures.
