A 69-y-old woman with bioprosthetic endocarditis due to Listeria monocytogenes developed an allergic reaction after beginning ampicillin treatment. She was cured with the combination of trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole, rifampicin and teicoplanin.

No immune deficiency was found in the patient.
